Preservation Associate/ Project Engineer

Position Description


Job Summary:

At Spectra Company, we strive to protect, preserve, and restore the west coast’s most treasured historic landmarks. The Preservation Associate position works mainly on our preservation consulting scope of work on our historic construction projects. Duties may include onsite recording and documentation of historic materials and conditions assessment, measuring/investigating structures or architectural features, creating AutoCAD drawings, cataloging onsite items, and writing reports, procedures and narratives. Refer to the below Job Duties for further description of the position.

Job Duties:

  • Working onsite to take measurements of buildings or features such as doors and windows
  • Working onsite to photo document, label, and catalogue historic architectural items
  • Creating AutoCAD conceptual design drawings or shop drawings for items such as Doors and Windows
  • Writing reports or narratives for historic structures reports or conditions assessments
  • Compiling and submitting historic treatment procedures and historic restoration product data

This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee. Potential candidates should be flexible and prepared to collaborate with Construction Project Managers, Marketing Department and Architecture/Consulting Department.

Qualifications:

  • Spectra Company is a construction company focused solely on historic construction. Potential candidates should have an interest in working on historic sites.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Historic Preservation, Architectural History, or other related field.
  • Must be comfortable working both onsite and in an office environment
  • Comfortable using AutoCAD or Revit to create smaller architectural drawings
  • Basic knowledge of Digital Photography
  • Basic knowledge of either Photoshop of InDesign preferred but not required
  • Capability to efficiently label and document items for cataloguing purposes
  • Must be a proficient writer

Pay Range (Annual): $60,000 – $75,000
Location: Pomona, CA
Job Type: Full Time
