Homenaje, in Spanish, means “Tribute.” Celebrating 30 years of wine-growing from our beautiful vineyard perched on the slopes of Howell Mountain, this wine pays tribute to Walter Viader, Delia’s father and Alan’s grandfather, who was instrumental in the origins of the winery. Since Walter’s passing in 2006 Alan has remembered him by pulling aside unique lots of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec into a secret barrel on which he would write “Reserve for Tito,” his Grandfather’s nickname, in chalk. With the 2016 vintage, our tricennial anniversary, we bottled this wine beginning a new tradition. On the label there is a set of boleadoras; three stones wrapped in leather tethered together by braided leather cords. The Argentine ranchers use these from horseback to rope cattle. To us it symbolizes the family’s heritage, the three stones tethered together representing the three generations of Viader family involved in the winery. We are delighted to share this special tribute blend, deeply rooted in the Viader family’s traditions. This blend is made up of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon barrels hand-selected for this limited-production bottling.

Viader is a leading first growth Napa Valley estate established in 1986 by Delia Viader and located at 1300 ft. elevation on the western slopes of Howell Mountain.  Viader is recognized around the world for consistently producing high quality, very limited production red wines and red Bordeaux-style blends.
