Stay the weekend at the circa 1801 Sauer-Adams Adobe, San Luis Obispo County’s oldest inhabited building, across from the Mission San Luis Obispo (accommodation 3 nights for 2). Maestro James Papp will provide you with training in the weapons of your choice (foil, saber, épée) for Kwong Tong Fencers Club’s weekly Sunday tea and bouts in the Sauer-Adams garden, along with special-access tours of local architecture, copies of his recent book San Luis Obispo County Architecture, and meals at the adobe and historic eateries like Madonna Inn and century-old Mee Heng Low Noodle House, accompanied by the Central Coast’s best wine.
