This 16″ x 20″ print in a 20″ x 24″ frame was made from a 4×5 black and white film negative image of the now-demolished Oak Knoll Naval Hospital of Oakland California, taken by Jonathan Haeber in 2007. It comes signed by the artist, framed, and matted.
The first building on Oak Knoll was constructed in 1942 as a temporary structure to treat World War II veterans. Through the years, the hospital campus grew to include dozens of structures including the 1967, 11-story hospital where L. Ron Hubbard the infamous founder of Scientology was treated. In February of 1996 Oak Knoll finally closed its doors, per the BRAC (Base Realignment Committee) decision. In 2017 the naval hospital was demolished.
