Join our own Christine French at her historic mid-century home “Piney Croft” for a two-hour twilight visit including a tour of the main house followed by wine/cocktails and appetizers in the backyard. Located on a half-acre parcel drawn from the turn-of-the-century McCullough Estate, Piney Croft is an A-frame home completed just in time for Christmas in 1959. The Meyer family hired architect Clifford Wright (a graduate of the University of Florida, not associated with Frank Lloyd Wright), to create the first full-scale A-Frame in Central Florida. The 32-foot-tall house includes a sunken living room and a “mezzanine master bedroom,” overlooking the kitchen with full-height stone fireplace. There are 22 skylights in the house, which also features 10 massive glue-laminated beams supporting the original knotty-pine paneled wood-shingle roof. Abandoned for two years, the Frenches saved the building in 2011 and restored it as a family home. Enjoy a mountain cabin moment in Old Florida under our 150-year-old Live Oak surrounded by ferns and flowers.
