Cutting Edge: Partnerships, Development and Incentives

Municipalities, developers, and historic building owners face many difficulties and challenges when it comes to historic properties.  The high price of preservation is often the reason cited for tearing down a building.  This session will focus on incentive mechanisms that various communities around the state are utilizing to spur preservation efforts.  Through actual case studies, various incentive programs will be highlighted that have proven to be successful in not only achieving the broader community goals of preservation but in ways that recognize and incentivize those preservation efforts for the property owner or developer.
