A History of Historic Preservation
This webinar will track the course of the historic preservation movement in the United States, from its origins as a means to venerate our nation’s founders to today’s multidisciplinary, cross-cultural movement. We’ll visit a bunch of important sites that help tell this story and focus on some of the individuals whose efforts still inform our thinking. Along the way, we’ll learn that even as our field progresses and becomes more inclusive, many of our stories of victory (and defeat) have their roots in the past and that history – surprise! – sometimes repeats itself.
