Junior Architectural Conservator
Position Description
We are looking for a talented Junior Architectural Conservator to join our dynamic and collaborative Los Angeles office. This is a full-time position with the expectation that the hired conservator will work in the Los Angeles office a minimum of 3 days per week. The salary range for this position is $65,000 – $75,000 depending on experience.
What you will do (including but not limited to):
• Field surveys and conditions assessments of existing materials
• Building materials research and analysis
• Investigation and diagnosis of deterioration processes
• Conservation treatment plans or studies
• Design and construction drawings and specifications
• Construction administration
• Maintenance and restoration guidelines
• Historic finishes analysis
• Proposal and report writing
• Assist senior conservators when needed but also work independently
Your qualifications:
• M.A. or M.S. in Architecture or Historic Preservation and relevant specialty experience within the conservation field
• 1 to 5 years of experience beyond a graduate degree encouraged
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office. Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit is a plus
• Be a creative problem solver who enjoys working on a diverse range of exciting projects

Company/Organization Description
ARG is an interdisciplinary architecture and planning firm comprising architects, designers, conservators, planners, and architectural historians. We work in a wide variety of sectors and building types including multi-family, hospitality, national and state parks, cultural and performing arts, higher education, and civic projects. We design new buildings in sensitive historic and natural settings, and work in the adaptive reuse and preservation of older ones. These buildings can be tied to a particular place and time, culture, or architectural movement. In our practice, we draw strongly from the sense of place, and we see how history comes alive in the buildings we work to renew.
Pay Range (Annual): $60,000 – $80,000
Location: Los Angeles, CA
