Founded in 1978, the California Preservation Foundation (CPF) is California’s statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to the protection of historic places and cultural heritage. Through education, advocacy, and community-centered programs, CPF supports the people, projects, and policies that keep California’s historic resources vital and valued. Cultural Resources Program Supervisor, Architecture, Registration & Project Review Review

Position Description


SUPERVISOR, CULTURAL RESOURCE PROGRAM – OFFICE OF HISTORIC PRESERVATION / ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW AND REGISTRATION UNIT/SACRAMENTO

The reporting location for this position is Office of Historic Preservation in Sacramento, CA. This position will work under the general direction of the Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer (CEA).

Under the general direction of the State Historic Preservation Officer and Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer, the incumbent supervises and coordinates, on a statewide level, the activities of the Architectural Review, Registration, and Environmental Compliance Unit of the California Office of Historic Preservation. This is a challenging job that requires excellent writing and organizational skills, as well as the ability to analyze date and effectively present ideas orally and in writing, and to work both independently and cooperatively with others, including outside parties the individual staff this position supervises and fellow members of the office’s management team.


Company/Organization Description


The California State Office of Historic Preservation (OHP) is responsible for administering federally and state mandated historic preservation programs to further the identification, evaluation, registration and protection of California’s irreplaceable archaeological and historical resources.

OHP’s responsibilities include:

  • Identifying, evaluating, and registering historic properties;
  • Ensuring compliance with federal and state regulatory obligations;
  • Encouraging the adoption of economic incentives programs designed to benefit property owners;
  • Encouraging economic revitalization by promoting a historic preservation ethic through preservation education and public awareness and, most significantly, by demonstrating leadership and stewardship for historic preservation in California.

Pay Range (Annual): Greater than $100,000
Location: Sacramento, CA
