Position Description
Supervisor, Cultural Resource Program
Office of Historic Preservation – Architectural Review & Registration Unit
The California Office of Historic Preservation is seeking an experienced leader to supervise the Architectural Review, Registration, and Environmental Compliance Unit. Reporting to the Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer, this position provides statewide leadership in preserving and protecting California’s historic and cultural resources.
The supervisor oversees a team responsible for architectural review, historic resource registration, and environmental compliance. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to analyze complex issues, make sound decisions, and build productive relationships with staff, partner agencies, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support the Architectural Review, Registration, and Environmental Compliance Unit.
- Provide statewide leadership on historic preservation programs and initiatives.
- Review and analyze complex preservation issues and communicate recommendations effectively.
- Collaborate with internal staff, public agencies, Tribal governments, and other partners.
- Contribute as a member of the Office of Historic Preservation’s management team.

The California Office of Historic Preservation (OHP) administers federally and state mandated historic preservation programs to further the identification, evaluation, registration, and protection of California’s irreplaceable resources.
Pay Range (Annual): $100,000-$125,000
