Join the California Preservation Foundation for a fascinating online program exploring the history, design, and engineering of the Caldecott Tunnel—one of the Bay Area’s most significant transportation landmarks. This special program combines a pre-recorded virtual tour with expert commentary that brings the tunnel’s story to life, from its historical development to its enduring role in regional mobility.
The program will begin with an introduction to the tunnel’s history and significance, followed by a video tour offering a rare look inside the Caldecott Tunnel. A moderated panel discussion will follow, featuring historians, engineers, and preservation and community leaders who will share insights into the tunnel’s construction, evolution, and continued importance. The program will conclude with audience questions, creating an opportunity for participants to engage directly with the panel.
